Scott Lesiuk

18u Waves Premier Assistant Coach

Coach Lesiuk was the former Smithfield High School softball coach from 2012-2019. He has experience as a softball coach for several organizations and is currently the assistant coach for the Rhode Island Waves program. His career consisted of playing four years at Bishop Feehan High School and four more years collegiately at Rhode Island College. His love of the game continues on the field as a player for the RI Senior Men's baseball and as a hitting and pitching instructor at Upper Deck Baseball Academy

Laura DeNoncour

18u Head Coach

Laura DeNoncour was a 1B/DP at RI College and was coached by Maria Morin. During her years on the team the Anchorwomen were the Little East Conference Champions in 2008 and 2009, appeared in three Regional Tournaments in 2008, 2009, and 2011, and went to the NCAA National Championship in 2008. Laura has coached Waves teams at the 12u, 14u, and 16u levels prior to moving up to 18u. She enjoys sharing her love and passion for the sport with a new generation of players.

Coach Alaina DeNoncour

Alaina DeNoncour

18u Assistant Coach

Alaina DeNoncour was a 3B/1B at Simmons College in Boston MA. This is her 4th year as a Waves Assistant Coach . She has experience in Coaching all age groups having previously been on the coaching staff for Waves 16u, 14u, and 12u teams. This season she has joined the 14u  Coaching Staff once again and continues to bring her knowledge of the fundamentals to help prepare players.

Maria Morin

Waves Softball Director

Maria Morin was Rhode Island College's head softball coach for 18 years after concluding an outstanding undergraduate career as a pitcher at Skidmore. She built RIC's softball program from the ground up, leading Anchorwomen to five consecutive Little East Conference Regular Season Championships, four straight Little East Tournament Championships, and two College World Series Appearances. She now continues to share her passion for the sport as the Director of the Waves Softball competitive travel organization.

Emily Johnson

18u Showcase Head Coach

Emily Johnson was a P /1B for Rhode Island College under Maria Morin. She was Named First Team All-Little East Conference as a designated player in 2011 and got MVP for the anchorwomen her senior year.  She now is going on her  6th season as a Waves Head Coach. Emily is also the owner of The Backstop Softball Training facility where she gives private and group lessons. As the head 18u Showcase

coach, Emily's focus is to get her players to be college ready.

Coach Zeena Barbarita

Zeena Barbarita

18u Showcase Assistant Coach

Zeena Barbarita, Assistant Coach for our Waves 18u Showcase team, has been around the game of softball ever since the age of 10. Zeena  played both in high school and college. At LaSalle Academy she played an integral part in helping the Rams to their first ever State Championship  in school history. She played in college for 3 years at Salve Regina University where in her junior year she helped them to a regular season CCC title and 2nd place in the CCC Championship. In addition to coaching at the Waves Organization, Zeena has coached at the high school level at Johnston High School in RI and St. Mary Academy Bay View.
